Farmer's Market Plus a Visit to the Farm.

We're having some beautiful Summer weather after the heat wave of last week. I tend to be a bit of a homebody, and what with schedules and all we haven't taken advantage of our local farmer's market in the few years we've lived in Easton. With Sean's new job (he has weekend's off!) things seem to be settling into a groove.

Easton boasts the longest running open air market in the country (founded c.1752). I woke up with my heart set on heading downtown this morning, and it was such a nice way to start our day and clear our heads a bit.

The market is set in the center circle, so it's a bustling spot for sure. A busy road runs around the perimeter, and people bump and maneuver between tents brimming with fresh veggies and flowers, baked goods, and hot food stands. (We're anxious to try the crab cake sandwiches, gourmet grilled cheese, and sweet potato fries with maple poppy seed dipping sauce for starters.)

I find it very exciting to be able to purchase goods directly from the farmer (above is the sweet gent from Salvaterra's Gardens from whom I purchased my first ever Lithuanian zucchini). Our family also recently rediscovered one of our local farms, so after our time at the market we made our way outside of town to visit Klein's Dairy Farm. They have a wee playground and store, and of course it's fun to pat the animals.

What fun local places does you like to visit?
