DIY :: Simple Gift Box Makeover

I don't know about you, but I'm really, super bad at buying wrappings and trappings for gifts. There is generally a good stash of things like gift bags and shirt boxes up in my attic, so I tend to take it for granted that I'll be able to find something to put my gift in. I've recently had a few gifts that nestled perfectly inside of a shirt box, but due to my under par wrapping skills I wanted to avoid doing the box up with wrapping paper. (Also, the one thing I'm sorely lacking in my attic stash is wrapping paper without snowmen or Christmas holly on it.)

MATERIALS:   shirt box
                     kraft paper
             scissors
             glue stick
             cotton twine

The main thing with re-using shirt boxes is that you have to cover up those pesky brand stamps. Choose a shape, or shapes, that you would like to work with and cut it from the kraft paper (construction paper works well too, as does scrapbook paper).

Apply glue to the back, and then place it over the stamped part of the box. After that you can feel free to glue more hearts (or your choice of shape) around on the top of the box to make it look pretty!

Wrap it with twine, string, or ribbon, and you're all set to go! Easy-peasy!
