One of the items I tend to ogle when I see them on Etsy are yarn wreaths. They're colorful and pretty, and the possibilities are as endless as the imagination! I decided it would be fun to dive in and try my hand at it.
Wrapping the yarn around the wreath form wasn't as tedious as I expected, but it was still very time consuming! I opted for a 12" wreath form and used approximately half of a 7 oz ball of yarn. Happily, I had all of the other materials I needed already in my craft stash! I choose Vanilla, White, and Nutmeg to color my flowers, and added a couple of simply embroidered moss leaves for interest. I then nestled tiny freshwater pearls in the small Nutmeg buds.
To complete the look, I tied pretty creamy colored cotton lace at intervals across the top left corner. I had just enough lace for what I wanted to do! I also played around with adding sprigs of cranberries, but decided to forgo them for now (though I may change my mind sixteen times in the next couple of week).
I'm not going to lie, it was a fun change to bust out the glue gun and not have to focus on precisely placing every hand embroidered stitch! The only thing that I don't like is that since my wreath is on my front door, I only see it when I come and go. I'm half tempted to make another one to hang in my living room where I can see it all day! I do believe, at the very least, that I shall buy two small 6" wreath forms and use the rest of my yarn to make tiny wreaths for my front windows. It'll look so festive!

Oh it is so cute!. I started one weeks ago of just white rosettes. I got 3/4 of the way done before I ran out of rosettes. Eventually I will make it back to the craft store for more felt to finish it up.
I love it! I have been thinking about trying this for awhile, maybe this weekend!
it's so cute!!! i love the idea of wrapping lace around it, also love the idea of using freshwater pearls - how pretty! i really like the cranberries mixed in -- that would look great for the holidays. i'm going to have to make a Christmas one pretty soon here!
